Making Terracotta Jewellery

Hi all, Here is a small information about terracotta jewellery with tutorial on how to make it. Terracotta Jewellery is a hand made yet beautiful bright coloured earthenware jewellery. Making this type of jewellery is quite easy but need more patience. I have watched making terracotta jewellery in television and decided to try myself. I have did few and shared the pictures below. Hope this would be helpful.

Materials required :

1. Terracotta clay ( Available in all craft shop)
2. Tungsten wire
3. Metallic and pearl fabric colours
4. Jewellery making cord (black)
5. Ballpoint pen refill
6. Tooth pick
7. Rolling Pin

Step 1: Knead the clay to remove air inside. Use a rolling pin to flatten the clay and cut it in to desired shapes.

Step 2: Use Tooth pick to make designs in the clay. Use the bottom of a ballpoint pen refill to make small circle like designs.

Step 3: Make tiny balls using hand. Cut the tungsten wire in to 2 cm pieces. Insert one end in to the pendent piece. Insert the tiny balls in to the other end of the wire.

Step 4: For making beads roll the clay in hand and make holes in it with the help of a tooth pick.

Step 5: Let it dry for 2 to 3 days and paint it with fabric colours.

Step 6: With the help of a cord join the beads and pendent to make a beautiful jewellery.
